Our Origin Story
The story of my jewellery brand began with a gold locket. When I was 9 years old, my single Mum gave me this precious gift. It was my first piece of gold jewellery, and I knew how much she had saved and scrimped to buy it for me.
I cherished that locket. I wore it every day, and I took great care of it. It was a symbol of my Mum's love and support, and it reminded me of the strong bond between us.
As I grew older, my love for jewellery deepened. I was drawn to the beauty and craftsmanship of fine jewellery, and I loved the way it could make me feel confident and special.
After years of working in the jewellery industry, I decided to start my own brand. I wanted to create jewellery that was not only beautiful, but also meaningful. I wanted to create pieces that would tell stories and evoke emotions.
My brand is inspired by the gold locket that my Mum gave me all those years ago. It is a reminder of the power of jewellery to connect us to our loved ones and to our memories.
I design jewellery that is meant to be cherished and passed down from generation to generation. I want my jewellery to be a symbol of love, family, and tradition.
Thank you, Mum, for giving me the gift of your love and for inspiring my passion for jewellery.
Kassandra's Artistic Ethos and Practice
Exploring Concepts, Culture & Connections
Kassandra Gordon's work explores the three C's of jewellery DNA - concepts, culture, and connections.
Gordon's work often explores abstract concepts such as identity, heritage, and legacy. She uses jewellery as a way to give physical form to these abstract ideas.
Gordon's work is deeply rooted in British & Jamaican culture. She draws on the rich heritage and symbolism of this culture to create pieces that are both authentic and meaningful.
Gordon's work is all about connections. She believes that jewellery can be a powerful way to connect with loved ones, to celebrate special occasions, and to express one's individuality. Her work often tells stories about family, home, and identity.
Visual cultural artist and fine jeweller Kassandra communicates the layered influences of British-Jamaicans; from the beauty and diversity of braiding and hair styling, to traces of imperialism and the intersectionality of spaces.
This allows her to explore different perspectives and to create pieces that are truly multi-faceted.
The brand's jewellery pieces are modern heirlooms, with a meaningful story to tell. As a signature detail, the brand creates braids and threads to subtly frame the pieces - an important element of culture and creativity that becomes a part of the beauty and meaning behind the jewellery.
Kassandra's work is more than creating bold and unapologetic pieces; her story lives in what she creates. In 2020, she had a light-bulb moment when she started to express her own voice in her work and using it to support other people in different mediums.
Jewellery, adornment, moving images, and storytelling connect the old with the new. Kassandra is using creativity to preserve heritage, starting with jewellery.
Kassandra's work is all about self-expression, storytelling, and heritage. Her pieces are designed to be bold and unique, just like the people who wear them. She wants her jewellery to tell a story, and to be cherished by families for generations to come.
Kassandra is also passionate about using her platform to support other people. She believes that everyone has a story to tell, and that art can be a powerful tool for connection and healing.
Kassandra's brand is a celebration of self-expression, storytelling, and heritage. Her jewellery is more than just fashion; it is a powerful statement about who we are and where we come from.
